“My wife and I have been self-building a Georgian period home and did all of the trim carpentry ourselves. We started painting, then both got injured so had to hire painters. Talk about good luck! Aleks from AMP Painting came, was enthused about the project and was able to devote his crew to the endless hours of prep (did I mention amateur carpentry?). Once that was done and primed, the finish coats were applied and the results were so jaw-dropping good that we had them re-do most of our earlier efforts. Painting strikes me as one of those crafts that almost never sings its own praises. When you look at a handsome six-panel solid door, or a traditional panelled wall, or even a flat wall capped with a good cornice, the beauty inherent in the design only shines with a great finish. Good paint makes good architecture sing. Average paint? Not so much. After seven years on this project, I can say that hiring AMP painting was one of our positive trade (craft) experiences. I enjoyed every day on the project and the crews were both excellent. They let me work, one-armed, beside them when I was able, and we had a lot of laughs.
